DEWI evita REIJS IS A GRADUATE OF THE amsterdam ACADEMY FOR DRAMA & CONTEMPORARY MUSIC THEATRE AND HAS SINCE WORKED IN THEATER, FILM AND TELEVISION. 
 

Dewi was born and raised in Rotterdam. On the age of eighteen she moved to Amsterdam to study as an actress trained in classic and modern stage repertoire. She has lived in Belgium, Uganda and Indonesia and still loves to travel. Dewi has a mixed background. Her mother was born in Bandung - Indonesia and het father is Dutch.

This season Dewi plays in THE HIDDEN FORCE at Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Directed by the internationally acclaimed director Ivo van Hove. The play travels this summer to Barcelona and next year to Moscow.

In addition to her stage work, she played guest roles in Dutch television series such as Shouf Shouf, Cops Maastricht, Seinpost The Hague, Danni Lowinski, Murder Wife and A'dam E.V.A. On the big screen she featured in films such as Dolfje Werewolf and Perjalanan (The Journey).

In the autumn of 2016 Dewi stars in the historical film A REAL VERMEER by award-winning director Rudolf van den Berg. Playing the wife of master forger Han van Meegeren. The film is based on a true story.

Last year, Dewi made her directorial debut with the short fiction film IDIOT starring the mentally handicapped Rahima Güngor and Emmy award winner Maryam Hassouni. Idiot is selected for the Cannes Court Métrage 2016 (the Short Film Corner). Read more..

Last summer Dewi directed Hide Her in 48 Hours, a story about a transgender woman on the run, a fight in the clouds between heart and mind.  Currently she is planning to direct her third short movie A fork in the road. Dewi wrote several plays. In the summer of 2009 she wrote and directed the youth play Rafi. Her play Air in The Kitchen Cupboards was selected for the New Dutch Festival. Her family play The Forgotten Forest came out in 2011. In the summer of 2012 she wrote online 8 short stories for the website about her life in Jakarta and Bali. You can read (in Dutch) about Dewi’s adventures here.

In 2013 she was shooting the film Perjalanan (The Journey) in Bandung and Jakarta in which she plays the lead role. Dewi was also a co-writer. Perjalanan got selected for Balinale International Film festival 2014 and CinemAsia Film Festival 2015. Watch the teaser.

In 2015 Dewi writes Holy Mary, a short film with star actress Liz Snoijink in the lead role. The film got selected for SESIFF 2015 Extreme-Short film competition in Seoul, Korea and Shortcutz Amsterdam 2016 in the Netherlands. Check out Holy Mary. 

Reijs is currently working on several screenplays, including the feature film Nadra, to be directed by Theu Boermans and produced by San Fu Maltha and Anton Smit.
